On Tuesday, April 19, Buncombe County Schools celebrated our Top Scholars! The Top Scholar Awards Ceremony recognizes the seniors with the highest GPAs within their class. This year, 110 students have the honor of being bestowed with this award.
“We are so proud of our Top Scholars,” said Superintendent Dr. Tony Baldwin. “These students, despite all of the disruptions due to the global pandemic, remained focused on their academics and excelled during a challenging time.”
The ceremony, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, included an inspirational speech from the Honorable Judge Jacqueline Grant. Judge Grant was herself a Top Scholar at Reynolds High School (’88). She’s now a Superior Court Judge in District 28. In her speech, Judge Grant reflected on her experiences after graduation. She reminded the students that it’s ok for them to feel a mix of emotions as they are about to embark on a new chapter in their lives as BCS graduates. She assured the students that their best days are yet to come.
Special thanks to Surry Insurance for their generous donation to help make the awards ceremony possible. Also, thanks to Becky’s Florist, Lifetouch Studios, and the BCS Foundation for your support.
