Owen High School student Jordan Robertson turned her passion for running into a project to help the community. The sophomore created and planned the Warhorse Gallop 5k and Pony Trot Fun Run, which brought together more than 100 people at the school this morning.
“I’m the sophomore class president, and I wanted a fundraiser that would be fun and help us do community outreach,” she shared. “I run both cross country and track, and wanted to combine something I love with something that could help bring our community together and bring in money to help with future projects.”
The event was a fundraiser for both the Owen sophomore class and the neighboring Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth, and Families.
Runners of all ages took part, and included students, teachers, parents, and Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson, traversing a cross country course that ended with a post-race celebration and awards ceremony in the Owen High stadium.
