Taylor Taylor was awarded the Edward Buncombe Chapter of DAR's American History Teacher of the Year Award. She has also won at the state level and will receive that award in April at the state DAR convention. We wish her luck as she competes nationally and are appreciative that the Daughters of the American Revolution have recognized her teaching.
According to the DAR Web site, The Outstanding Teacher of American History Contest honors notable full-time teachers of history (and related fields such as social studies, government, and citizenship education) in public, private, and parochial schools, grades 5-12. These teachers have demonstrated excellence in readily sharing an incisive knowledge of American History, demonstrating a commitment to their students, fostering a spirit of patriotism and loyal support of our country, relating history to modern life and events, and requiring high academic standards at all times from their students.
