Students in Maci Brown’s English II classes used songs generated by ChatGPT to examine literary devices in Fahrenheit 451. Groups generated a prompt for the AI program (for example, “Write a rock anthem in the style of Freddy Mercury about imagery in Fahrenheit 451”), which their teacher then submitted to the program. Here, students can be seen comparing the songs to excerpts from the text. Next, groups will compose an additional verse to their song or rap that references the textual device they chose.
