ACRHS is hosting in-person FAFSA help sessions on January 30th from 9 am to 3 pm. You can sign up for an appointment using this link. The FAFSA gives students access to grants or loans and can be needed to apply to scholarships. It is recommended that everyone planning to attend college apply for the FAFSA.
Please be sure to bring the following items with you to your appointment:
You and your parents must have an FSA ID in order to complete the FAFSA application. You may create an FSA ID here now.
Bring a copy of your tax return for the appropriate year to your appointment. If you are a Dependent student, bring a copy of your parent(s) tax return as well. The FAFSA application uses tax data from two years prior. For example, if you are completing the 2026-2027 FAFSA, you will need your 2024 tax return information.
You and your parents should also create an ID.me account in the event you need to access your tax return transcripts at IRS.gov. For more information, visit the Internal Revenue Service and ID.me
If you have questions or a unique financial/custody situation you want to discuss this would be a great time to ask questions.
These appointments can also be a good time to complete the in-state residency orRDSif you are running into issues. The RDS application is what proves that you are a NC resident and that you qualify for instate tuition.
