Brief Teacher Biography:

Mr. Tucker teaches 10th grade Chemistry and A.P. Chemistry for 11th and 12th grade students at the Nesbitt Discovery Academy.  Mr. Tucker received his B.S. in Biology from Purdue University with a minor in Chemistry.  While at Purdue, Mr. Tucker worked in a plant pathology lab helping to sequence the gender determining gene for the plant C. richardii, commonly called C-ferns.  This will be Mr. Tucker’s 24th year teaching in public school.  Before the NDA, Mr. Tucker taught in Canton, NC at Pisgah HS and before that at Castle HS in Newburgh, IN.  Besides teaching Biology and Chemistry, Mr. Tucker has also previously taught Honors Physics, A.P. Biology, Zoology and Anatomy/Physiology.  To further feed his love of teaching, Mr. Tucker has worked as an educational outreach docent at Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Gardens in Evansville, IN as well as being an educational ranger in Great Smoky Mountains National Park through the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program.  Mr. Tucker loves to inspire his students, but more often is inspired by his students.

When he is not spending time with his wife and two children, he can be found whitewater kayaking, hiking, biking or reading.
