About Me

About Ms. Parker

I am so excited to be back at Nesbitt Discovery Academy teaching science! I have been in education for nine years, 8 of which were in the classroom teaching. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Asheville in 2006 with my B.S. in Environmental Science and in 2012, I received my M.A.T. in Biology and Comprehensive Science from Western Carolina University. I am currently working on a biology graduate certificate to accompany my Masters degree. I recently got the opportunity to work for The Science House of NCSU, where I gained valuable experience in science and STEM teaching, leadership, and curriculum. I am so grateful to now get to share these experiences with my NDA family!

I am very passionate about animals, and prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in the animal field as a veterinary technician and animal trainer at The Phoenix Zoo. I love talking about all things animals, conservation, and the envi
ronment! In my free time, I love to hike with my dogs, travel, paddle board, volunteer at the WNC Nature Center, and hang out with my best person, Vince. I am looking forward to a great year at NDA!
