About Me
Christina HawkinsThis is my third year teaching at Nesbitt Discovery Academy. I love being a part of the NDA family. I currently teach Spanish 1 and 2. My classes are different than most language classes. I use a method called Comprehensible Input. This method shelters students' input of vocabulary words, provides plenty of repetition, and keeps students active. I truly look forward to coming to work each and every day.

In 2013, I received my B.A. in Spanish from UNC-Asheville. During my time at UNCA, I studied abroad in Costa Rica and lived in Seville, Spain. The summer before my first year of teaching, I worked in an orphanage in La Paz, Bolivia. I have also spent time in Italy and Ireland. I am a native to Haywood County, and after traveling around the world, I have decided that there is no better place to live!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons. Together, we enjoy cooking, camping, and spending time with friends and family. When I am not with my boys, I enjoy exercising, reading, and drinking excessive amounts of coffee.
