Mr. Gregory Tucker
Mr. Tucker teaches 10th grade Chemistry and
Biology at the Nesbitt Discovery Academy.
Mr. Tucker received his B.S. in Biology from Purdue University with a
minor in Chemistry. While at Purdue, Mr.
Tucker worked in a plant pathology lab helping to sequence the gender
determining gene for the plant C. richardii, commonly called C-ferns. This will be Mr. Tucker’s 20th
year teaching in public school. Before
the NDA, Mr. Tucker taught in Canton, NC at Pisgah HS and before that at Castle
HS in Newburgh, IN. Besides teaching
Biology and chemistry, Mr. Tucker has also previously taught Honors Physics,
A.P. Biology, Zoology and Anatomy/Physiology.
To further feed his love of teaching, Mr. Tucker has worked as an
educational outreach docent at Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Gardens in Evansville,
IN as well as being an educational ranger in Great Smoky Mountains National
Park through the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program. Mr. Tucker loves to inspire his students, but
more often is inspired by his students.
When he is not spending time with his wife and two children,
he can be found playing soccer, whitewater kayaking, hiking, biking or reading.
