Posted on 05/15/2017
NDA sophomore Gracie Boheler was one of four winners of the Western North Carolina Junior Achievement Writing Contest. Gracie is the only student from Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools to receive this prestigious award. The other three winners were from the private college-preparatory Asheville School.

Besides recognition at the recent Junior Achievement luncheon, Gracie was awarded a Think Pad computer.
Editors from the Asheville Citizen-Times newspaper judged the essays; Gracie's essay will be published in the newspaper along with her picture. The title of Gracie's persuasive essay was: "Invading Privacy or Protecting the Workplace?" She took the position that employers should use drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.  Congratulations to Gracie! We're very proud of her accomplishment.

In addition to Gracie,
NDA had eight students whose essays were entered in the competition: Alex Boots, Morgan Cook, Cooper Nunally, Molly Pruett, Lauren Malynowsky, Jaden Passero, and Liam Schwartz.
